The urge to clean and organize is known as nesting. Nesting during pregnancy is the overwhelming desire to get your home ready for your new baby. The nesting instinct is strongest in the later weeks coming up on delivery. Nesting moms are usually unable to see how irrational their behavior may become. Ok, now that we have defined nesting, the real question is if someone can nest to the 10th power.
Cleaning is one thing but obsessing over cleaning is another. Hi, my name is Joi and I have an issue with over nesting, if that is even a thing. I hope I’m not the only rock-mom who finds herself cleaning their house several times a day every day. It’s gotten to a point where I have nothing else to clean, but I clean and rearrange my house 1,839,903 times. I seriously need to sign myself up for nesting rehab, it’s fulfilling yet exhausting.
One would think after cleaning so much I wouldn’t find anything else to clean, WRONG! I have managed to always find something to clean, from washing and folding clothes, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, cleaning the baseboards, organizing my sons’ room (7-year-old LEGOs everywhere, ugh), straitening up the closets and much more. Yes, I’ve always loved a clean house and don’t like things out of order for too long, but I wouldn’t clean to this level, maybe once a week on the weekends because hey that’s what normal people do.
I know this nesting urge will dwindle away, but at this very moment its completely consuming my life. If you are an extreme nester, just know you aren't alone! There is a light at the end of the nesting tunnel which is your beautiful bundle of joy, hang in there!
